How Hypnotherapy Can Support You

There are a lot of myths about hypnotherapy out there. Many people imagine someone taking control of their mind or making them cluck like a chicken on stage! But the truth is almost the exact opposite.

In my practice, you are always in control. I do not sit on a pedestal of perfection, telling you how to think and feel… My role is to guide you into a deeply relaxed, natural state… the same dreamy space where your best ideas arrive in the shower or when you’re staring out the window.

From there, we gently and confidentially explore (together) the patterns, stories, and feelings that live beneath the surface.

Sometimes that can entail carefully revisiting a memory from your past (safely and from a comfortable distance) and offering that younger version of yourself the support they may have needed in that time that was so challenging or emotional. Perhaps its about noticing a new perspective or needing to offer forgiveness to that younger self.

Sometimes its about acknowledging the various parts of yourself that are at odds (the part that feels fearful, versus the part that feels brave perhaps) when we acknowledge each part and give them a voice, let them be heard and understood, quite often the clarification and confusion can shift and it can ease the discomfort that you’ve been living with.

Other times we might focus on tapping into your incredible inner guidance, and when we allow it to surface, the wisdom you carry within can be phenomenal.

Or maybe we look to the future and we programme in new possibilities and help the mind accept that whilst its wired to look for avoidance of potential threats to survival, equally, it can predict a future where things actually turn out well, where anxieties can ease and hope, optimism and enjoyment of the ‘now’ can surface.

Whatever technique we use. I always ensure we are working towards your personal goals. So, every session is different and unique.

But what ever you come with, I focus on helping you to ease anxiety or fear, deal with grief, doubt, guilt, or shame; shift unwanted habits or fears, and other times it’s about rediscovering your confidence, self-worth, or peace after a challenging time.

It isn’t about changing who you are: it’s about providing you with a safe space and helping you reconnect with the incredible wisdom and calm that’s already within you.

If you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for something to shift, this work might surprise you in the most beautiful way.

Below you’ll find some of the areas people often explore through hypnotherapy, grouped into themes. You may see something that resonates… or something you hadn’t even realized could be shifted.

Emotional Wellbeing and Inner Calm

Many people come to hypnotherapy seeking relief from the thoughts and feelings that weigh them down.
Through gentle relaxation and guided subconscious work, you can learn to calm your nervous system and reframe long-held patterns of stress.

Common focuses include:

  • Easing anxious thoughts or worries
  • Releasing tension, overthinking and looped thinking.
  • Building emotional resilience
  • Supporting sleep and rest
  • Cultivating self-worth and self-compassion

Healing from the Past

Hypnotherapy can help you gently process experiences that have shaped how you see yourself and the world.
Together we can create a safe inner space to explore, release, and rewrite the stories that may have been holding you back.

This may include:

  • Reducing the emotional impact of difficult memories
  • Healing from relationship wounds
  • Letting go of guilt, shame, or self-blame
  • Restoring a sense of safety and trust in life

Confidence, Clarity, and Growth

Sometimes, you’re not “stuck”, you’re simply ready for a new level of self-belief.
Hypnotherapy helps strengthen your inner confidence and self-trust, allowing you to move through life with greater ease and purpose.

Clients often focus on:

  • Public speaking and performance
  • Personal and professional confidence
  • Decision-making and motivation
  • Enhancing creativity and focus
  • Overcoming procrastination or self-doubt

Habits, Patterns, and Everyday Wellbeing

Hypnotherapy works deeply with the subconscious mind, the part that drives automatic behaviours and habits.
By working with this level of awareness, you can reshape patterns that no longer serve you and create space for new, healthier choices.

Areas of focus can include:

  • Calming emotional or comfort eating
  • Reducing unwanted habits
  • Supporting lifestyle change (sleep, exercise, balance)
  • Creating a sense of control and calm in daily life

Mind–Body Connection and Physical Ease

Many people are surprised to discover how deeply the mind and body communicate.
By calming the nervous system and releasing stored tension, you may notice positive shifts in physical comfort and wellbeing.

Examples of mind-body support include:

  • Managing tension, headaches, or reducing pain signaling
  • Preparing for medical or dental procedures
  • Calming the body’s stress response
  • Promoting rest and recovery

What to Expect

Every session begins with a relaxed conversation about what you would like to use hypnotherapy to achieve and what to expect when in trance.

I then move you into a guided process designed to help your mind settle, your body relax, and your subconscious surface.

After you are completely relaxed, I invite the subconscious to bring forward it’s incredible wisdom and help guide you towards your goal.

This portion is very interactive, however, I always ensure you know that you are in complete control.

You do not have to share anything you do not wish to share (You will not be spilling your deepest darkest secrets!).

I always check in throughout the process to ensure you feel safe and secure. If the subconscious brings forward something that you don’t feel comfortable with, you can tell me, and I will always steer you back to feeling of safety and comfort. You can communicate your personal preferences throughout the entire experience.

You’ll remain aware and in control throughout. Hypnotherapy simply helps you access a more peaceful, receptive state of mind where genuine change can take root.

There’s no “one size fits all” in hypnotherapy. Some people notice a shift after one or two sessions, while others find deeper transformation with a series of sessions over time.
